Opinions Divided on Vanderpump Rules Reboot: ‘Seems Desperate for Fame’

The highly anticipated reboot of Vanderpump Rules has finally made its debut. A fresh lineup of SUR staff has entered the Bravo universe, attempting to fill the massive gap left after the fallout of the infamous Scandoval saga. Bravo carefully built up to this return, pausing the series for over a year with promises of reviving the shows signature drama.

However, reactions to the first episode reveal that many longtime viewers remain skeptical of the new direction. Season 12 introduces a diverse mix of personalities, from OnlyFans creators to aspiring actors, all seemingly eager for their moment on television. While the original cast also included ambitious characters, this latest group hasnt resonated with everyone.

Led by Lisa Vanderpump, the premiere aired Tuesday, December 2, immersing audiences once again in romantic entanglements and restaurant conflicts. On paper, it offered all the ingredients familiar to VPR fans, yet social media feedback was mixed.

One viewer commented on X, The issue with reboots is that the new cast feels like actors trying too hard for fame, creating forced drama from the very first minute. It doesnt feel natural. Another added, The charm of Pump Rules was watching real people at real jobs interact with friends. This reboot feels staged because most of the cast are influencers performing for the cameras rather than genuinely working in a bar.

Not everyone shared these critiques. Some fans were excited to jump into the chaotic new storylines regardless of authenticity. One enthusiastic viewer wrote, The new cast has overlapping love triangles, including one with a 54-year-old SUR employee named Paulo whose face we dont see its pure mess (in the best way).

Of course, a full season remains ahead, giving room for opinions to evolve as the story unfolds.

Vanderpump Rules airs on Bravo on Tuesday nights at 9/8c and is available the next day on Peacock. Internationally, it streams on Hayu in Canada, the UK, and Ireland.
