Oxygen Renews 'Snapped' for 2 Seasons, Introduces 'Killer Moms,' and Orders Doc on the Hooters Murders

Oxygen has announced that its flagship true-crime series Snapped will continue for seasons 37 and 38. The network also revealed a new spinoff titled Snapped: Killer Moms (working title), adding to its existing spinoffs Snapped: Behind Bars (season 3) and Snapped: Killer Couples (season 5).

In addition, Oxygen has commissioned an original two-hour documentary, Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift (working title), which chronicles the murders of three women between 2001 and 2010a newlywed, a college hopeful, and a young motherall of whom worked at Hooters. The series is co-produced by Expectation and Sony Pictures Televisions The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), with Kevin Brennecke serving as showrunner. Executive producers include Ben Wicks and Tim Hincks from Expectation, along with Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman from IPC. The project was developed by Amy Dallmeyer.

Snapped remains Oxygens top-performing series, consistently outpacing other original cable entertainment programs in its time slot. Season 36 is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, January 4 at 6 p.m. ET/PT, with the show expected to reach 700 episodes by 2026.

Snapped has long been a cornerstone of Oxygen, and were thrilled to continue the franchise with two more seasons while expanding its universe with Snapped: Killer Moms. Alongside the gripping new documentary Hooters Murders: Deadly Shift, these projects highlight our dedication to delivering captivating true-crime stories that keep audiences returning, said Cori Abraham, senior vice president of unscripted content at Versant.

The series profiles women accused of serious crimes. Motivations range from revenge against unfaithful spouses to financial gain or retaliation for abuse. From socialites to secretaries, these women share one defining moment: they snapped.

The new spinoff, Snapped: Killer Moms, focuses on mothers whose protective instincts escalate into violence. Each episode explores the hidden layers of seemingly ordinary women whose devotion to their children leads to shocking acts. Like the original series, it is produced by Jupiter Entertainment, with Patrick Reardon serving as executive producer.
