Prince Harry hints at unexpected "Late Show" appearance with Stephen Colbert — and shares a 'King for a Day' lip-syncing video

Prince Harry is set to make an unannounced appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, December 3. Before the episode airs, the Duke of Sussex joined Colbert in a playful social media clip that quickly caught fans' attention.

In the teaser, Harry and Colbert lip-synced to a viral audio clip from The Great British Bake Off. Harry took on co-host Alison Hammonds voice while sitting in the guest chair, asking Colbert, If you were treated like a king for a day, what would you want me to do for you? Colbert responded as Northern Irish contestant Mark Lutton: Bake for me probably?

The humorous back-and-forth continued with Harry mimicking Hammonds confusion: You want me to do what? and Colbert repeating, Bake. Harry responded jokingly, Beg? leading to more playful exchanges, including the host spelling out B-A-K-E. Harry concluded with Hammonds signature cheerful realization: Oh bake!

The clip, shared on The Late Show Instagram account, was also reposted by Meghan Markle on her Instagram Stories. Harry has previously appeared on the show in January 2023 for an interview and again in March 2023 for a special segment.

During his January appearance, Harry discussed the emotional process of writing his memoir, Spare, his military service in Afghanistan, the global fascination with the royal family, and reflections on his late mother, Princess Diana. He noted that had she been alive, tensions with his brother, Prince William, might not have developed as they did.

Harry and Prince Williams strained relationship became public after Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. The divide intensified following their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, their Netflix series, and Harrys memoir. Over the summer, Harry reportedly offered to share his official schedule with the royal family to prevent clashes between their public engagements. In September, he met with his father, King Charles, for the first time in 19 months, a reunion described by a former royal aide as a significant step forward.
