Prince Harry Pretends to Audition for a Hallmark Christmas Movie on “The Late Show” — and Comes Close to Kissing Stephen Colbert

Prince Harry appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert during a playful segment about holiday TV movies. Colbert noted that these films often set unrealistic expectations that people might meet a prince or princess in everyday life.

As Colbert was discussing the fantasy of Americans falling for royalty in Christmas movies, the Duke of Sussex suddenly appeared onstage, joking that he was auditioning for a fictional film called The Gingerbread Prince Saves Christmas in Nebraska. Harry asked Colbert what it takes for a real prince to land a role in a Hallmark movie.

During the skit, Colbert mentioned that connections in show business can help. Harry humorously hinted at knowing a famous TV actress, referencing his wife, Meghan Markle, and added that he was willing to do anything, from filming a self-tape to flying for an audition or even settling a fake lawsuit.

The sketch reached a comedic peak when Harry and Colbert playfully leaned in as fake snow fell, almost sharing a kiss. Colbert then declared Harry the official Late Show prince of Christmas.

Before the segment, Colbert shared a teaser video on social media, featuring Harry in the guest chair mimicking the voice of Great British Bake Off co-host Alison Hammond, asking Colbert what royal treatment he would want for a day.

Earlier the same day, Harry also made a surprise appearance on Meghan Markles Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, joining her in the kitchen as she cooked her mothers cherished Christmas Eve gumbo alongside Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio.
