Regina Hall and Anna Faris show affection in vintage "Scary Movie" press footage: 'The original Cynthia and Ariana'

Regina Hall and Anna Faris, who starred together in the 2000 parody film Scary Movie, showcased the kind of playful camaraderie that has recently drawn attention to Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo on Wicked: For Good. Hall herself made the comparison, recalling a throwback interview with Entertainment Tonight from the films release.

"We were like the original Cynthia and Ariana, right?" Hall remarked while watching the old footage. "All the set love."

The clip captures the actresses teasing and complimenting each other. Faris, laughing, mentioned, "We want everyone to think that we get along," hinting that their studio had encouraged the display of friendship. The duos animated gestures and high-pitched voices highlighted their mutual admiration, with Hall calling Faris "hilarious" and Faris responding, "We love working together," as they shared hugs and smiles.

While Grande and Erivo have recently been seen expressing affection in public appearances for Wicked: For Good, the last Scary Movie installment before the current revival was released in 2013, without Hall or Faris. The actresses have now reunited for Scary Movie 6, set to hit theaters in June, under the guidance of writers and producers Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn Wayans.

Faris previously shared her enthusiasm for rejoining the franchise, saying, "I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!"

Hall fondly recalled her memories of working with Faris and reflected on their on-screen friendship. "That just makes me think of me and Anna young and being on set," Hall said. She described their characters, Brenda and Cindy, as "the two most unlikely friends," noting that while Cindy was clearly supportive, Brenda was more unpredictable. Hall added, "Maybe because Brenda's so irreverent. There's something off there, right?"

She expressed excitement about revisiting the films unique comedic style: "There's a very specific type of broad humor that's in Scary Movie. It means a lot that people want to see it 25 years later."

Release Date: Scary Movie 6 will be in theaters on June 12.
