Reg-Jean Page, best known for his breakout role in Bridgerton, is making his return to Netflix as both the lead actor and executive producer of the new erotic thriller series Hancock Park. The series has been acquired by Netflix following a competitive bidding process involving three major streaming platforms.
The project is developed by writer Matthew Barry (Industry), Drew Comins Creative Engine (Yellowjackets), and Fifth Season. It has been fast-tracked with a script-to-series commitment. The show takes its name from the affluent Los Angeles neighborhood of Hancock Park, home to notable figures such as Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
Hancock Park centers on a dangerously charismatic outsider, portrayed by Page, who infiltrates the life of a seemingly perfect Los Angeles family by renting their backyard guest house. As he becomes entangled in their world, the glossy surface of the elite community begins to crack, revealing hidden desires, betrayals, and obsessions that permeate the neighborhood.
Matthew Barry serves as both writer and executive producer, alongside Page and his producing partner Emily Brown through their A Mighty Stranger banner, with Drew Comins for Creative Engine. Fifth Season acts as the studio behind the series.
Page has previously achieved the rare feat of appearing on Netflixs Top 10 for both a series (Bridgerton Season 1) and a film (The Gray Man). His portrayal of the Duke of Hastings propelled him to international fame. Since then, Page has focused on film projects including The Gray Man, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Steven Soderberghs spy thriller Black Bag, and Universals romantic comedy You, Me & Tuscany with Halle Bailey, slated for release in April.
Through A Mighty Stranger, Page and Brown are also developing a Count of Monte Cristo film at Department M with Page in the lead, and Funny You Should Ask, a TV adaptation of Elissa Sussmans novel, at Apples Tomorrow Studios.
Welsh writer Matthew Barry previously worked as a writer-producer on Netflixs Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and wrote the BBC One TV movie Men Up, which earned him a BAFTA Cymru Award, as well as the BBC miniseries The Guest.
Drew Comins, a two-time Emmy nominee for Yellowjackets, also has multiple Netflix projects in development, including Dangerous Liaisons, an adaptation of Adam Silveras They Both Die at the End, and Lena Dunhams Covers. Additional projects in the works include HBOs The Holdout starring Amy Adams, and Apple TVs The Stowaway featuring Oscar Isaac.
