Sarah Paulson reveals Diane Keaton's humorous and touching last messages: 'Love you, little special'

Sarah Paulson recently shared heartfelt memories of her friendship with the late Diane Keaton, who passed away from pneumonia in October at the age of 79. Keatons family noted her health had declined suddenly and expressed gratitude to fans for their support during that time.

At The Hollywood Reporters Women in Entertainment gala in Los Angeles, Paulson paid tribute to Keaton and reflected on the process of grieving after losing one of the most cherished people in her life.

I wasnt sure I wanted to do this, standing in my grief in front of strangers, Paulson admitted. But then I thought, this is exactly what Diane did bestwearing her heart on her sleeve.

During her speech, Paulson shared amusing and warm messages she received from Keaton over the years, including emails, voicemails, and texts. One text had Keaton joking about Paulsons perpetually full voicemail: Moron, what is your address? I want to see you and your house, idiotSarah, I hate your phone. It is always full, and I can never leave a message.

In another message, Keaton expressed genuine curiosity about Paulsons life: Look, I want to know everything happening with youyour career, your love, your house. When are you in? Love you, little special. Keep me updated.

Keaton also commented on Paulsons partner, Holland Taylor, describing her as a force, totally charming, unique, before teasing Paulson herself: You, on the other hand, are a numbum skull. Its sad you had so much potential.

Paulson concluded her tribute by reading an email she wished she could send Keaton: Dear Dum-Dum, Im sorry my voicemail was always full. Im sorry I wasnt available when you called. I want to tell you how much emptier the world feels without you. I want to tell you about everything that has happened in my life since you left.

She added, I want to tell you how the world grieved when you passed. I will miss you forever, and I continue to be a moron, which I know would make you smile. Most of all, thank you for being my friend.

Paulson and Keaton first met while filming the 1999 movie The Other Sister, where Paulson played Keatons on-screen daughter. Their friendship endured for over 25 years.

Reflecting on Keatons generosity, Paulson recalled, Every time we went to dinner, Diane would finish her meal, go to the kitchen, and give cash to all the busboys. That was just who she was.
