Sarah Paulson Reveals Unsent Heartbreaking Email to Diane Keaton

Sarah Paulson paid tribute to her late friend Diane Keaton, calling her one of the most remarkable people the world has ever known. During the Hollywood Reporters Women In Entertainment breakfast on Wednesday, Paulson revealed the email she wishes she could send to Keaton today.

Dear silly, I want to apologize for my full voicemail, Paulson began, her voice trembling. I want to apologize for not always being available when you reached out. I want to express how much emptier the world feels without you. I want to share everything that has happened in my life during the 54 days since you left. I want to describe the heartbreak the world experienced on the day you passed. And I want to tell you that I will miss you endlessly and yes, I know Ive been foolish, and I believe you would find comfort knowing that.

Fighting back tears, Paulson continued her heartfelt message in a way only a close friend could. I just want to thank you, she said. Thank you for being my friend, Sarah Paulson, actress. Please call me.

Earlier in her speech, she described Keaton as a magical soul whose absence is still hard to comprehend, calling her one of the great loves of her life.

In October, at the premiere of her Hulu series Alls Fair, Paulson spoke briefly about Keaton, who had passed away from pneumonia at the age of 79 that month. She was a very dear friend, and its difficult for me to talk about it openly, Paulson said. All I can convey, which is important to me, is that what people admired in her as an actress was only a glimpse she was even more extraordinary as a human being.
