Scarlett Johansson in Discussions to Transition from Marvel to DC for the Sequel of Robert Pattinson's "The Batman"

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in advanced discussions to appear in the upcoming sequel to Robert Pattinsons Batman film. The Batman Part II is slated to continue the storyline following the 2022 release directed by Matt Reeves, with Pattinson reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson is in the final stages of negotiation to join the cast, though specifics about her character have not been revealed. Sources indicate that Zo Kravitz, who played Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the first film, is unlikely to return for the sequel.

Johansson is no stranger to comic book adaptations, having portrayed Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She first appeared in Iron Man 2 (2010) and concluded her tenure as the character in the standalone Black Widow (2021), for which she also served as an executive producer.

The plot for The Batman Part II remains largely secret, with the screenplay being written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. Warner Bros. confirmed that filming is expected to start in spring 2026, aiming for an October 1, 2027 release date.

The first Batman movie exists in a separate continuity from James Gunns Superman films and featured notable performances from Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin. Farrell reprised his role in the HBO Max series The Penguin.

Recently, Johansson starred in Jurassic World Rebirth and had a supporting role in The Phoenician Scheme. She also made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb. Upcoming projects include Ray Gunn and Paper Tiger, as well as a new adaptation within The Exorcist universe, directed by Mike Flanagan and produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and Flanagan himself.
