Scarlett Johansson is reportedly negotiating a role in the upcoming The Batman Part II, where she would star alongside Robert Pattinsons version of the Caped Crusader. The sequel, directed by Matt Reeves, is scheduled to start filming next spring and aims for an October 2027 release through Warner Bros.

The first installment of The Batman premiered in March 2022 and earned $772 million globally. Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin finalized the sequels script in June. According to sources familiar with the project, Zoe Kravitz will not be returning as Catwoman.

Details about Johanssons potential character are being kept secret. This casting marks a significant franchise move for Johansson, who recently appeared in Jurassic World Rebirth, which earned over $800 million worldwide, and is set to appear in the Exorcist reboot.

Johanssons involvement in the Batman sequel also represents a shift from her longtime role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where she is known for portraying Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow. Beyond blockbuster franchises, Johansson has pursued other creative ventures, including her directorial debut with the drama Eleanor the Great, which premiered at Cannes and was distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. She will also star in James Grays Paper Tiger.

She is represented by CAA and Yorn Levine LLC. News of Johansson considering the role was first reported by Nexus Point News. DC Studios has not provided an official comment on the casting.
