Scarlett Johansson is poised to enter DCs Gotham City four years after her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Industry insiders report that Johansson is in the final stages of negotiations to appear in The Batman Part II, the much-anticipated follow-up to Matt Reeves 2021 blockbuster.

If confirmed, her involvement would provide a significant boost to the production, which is slated to begin filming next year. Johansson is expected to complete her work on The Exorcist before joining the Batman sequel.

Johansson remains one of Hollywoods most commercially successful actors. The journey to bring the sequel to life has been complex. Warner Bros. first announced the film at CinemaCon in April 2022. Initially, DC Studios leaders James Gunn and Peter Safran set an October 2025 release, but the date has been shifted twicefirst to October 2, 2026, and now to October 1, 2027.

Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman/Bruce Wayne, with Matt Reeves returning as director and co-writer alongside Mattson Tomlin. The original film, released in March 2022, earned $770.3 million worldwide and inspired a Max spin-off focusing on Colin Farrells Penguin.

The returning cast also includes Zo Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Barry Keoghan as a mysterious Arkham inmate rumored to be connected to The Joker.
