Vernon Urges Martin to Revitalize His Campaign
Martin meets Vernon at the country club to refine campaign strategy. Vernon worries about upsetting his campaign manager, but Martin explains that egos will have to be managed, especially with his grandfather stepping in as an advisor. After hearing Martins pitch, Vernon finds it too safe and urges him to create something bold enough to catch fire online. Martin is stunned to learn his grandfather is active on social media, even posting dancing videos. Vernon jokes that his grandmother sometimes joins him.

Martin argues that voters struggling with basic needs dont care about social media, but Vernon believes that showing glimpses of Martins personal life could help him connect with the public. Martin refuses to expose his children, reminding Vernon that he promised Smitty family would always come first. The conversation shifts to Joeys campaign contribution, and Vernon admits bringing Joey into their circle was a mistake. Martin assures him he understands it came from a place of protection before heading off to meet Smitty and the kids.

Junes Situation Inspires Samantha to Get Involved
At Orphey Genes, June waits for Smitty, Tyrell, and Samantha. Tension rises between Tyrell and Samantha until Smitty returns and calms them down. June opens up about her worsening health and how years without insurance contributed to her condition. She explains that when survival is uncertain, healthcare becomes secondary. Samantha helps her when she becomes short of breath and worries about June losing her job and medical coverage.

Meanwhile, Tyrell confesses to Smitty that hes stressed about his relationship with Jessica, fearing his father wouldnt get it. Smitty offers understanding and fatherly advice. When Martin arrives, he discovers everyone already knew about Vernons social media antics. The kids encourage him to get with the times, and Samantha proposes opening a free clinic, sharing more about Junes struggles. Martin suggests they develop the idea together. Samantha later makes a mysterious phone call, asking someone to meet her.

Vanessa Pushes Joey for Public Recognition
Vanessa confronts Joey at the gambling pit about leaving early. Hes worried about appearances, but she insists she deserves to move forward openly. Joey hesitates, concerned how her kids will react. Vanessa, tired of secrecy, asks him to be her date to WinterFest. Joey refuses, fearing judgment and the risks tied to their money-laundering scheme. Vanessa accuses him of using that as an excuse and storms out, colliding with Vernon on her way out. Later, she asks Diego to escort her to WinterFest, but he declines.

Shanice and Ted Grow Closer in a Stuck Elevator
While working, Shanice bumps into Ted, scattering her papers. They step into the elevator together, which abruptly stalls. Shanice insists the elevator is cursed, recalling that a doctor was trapped for hours the previous month. As they wait for help, they joke about Ted jinxing the ride. Ted realizes he knows far less about her than she does about him, teasing her about how he shares everything publicly. When he removes his jacket, Shanice cant help but notice.

They exchange personal stories, including Shanices wish to marry someday and her fear of birds. The two bond over bird-themed movies until the elevator lurches back to life.

Izaiah and Eva Choose to Take Things Slow
Izaiah meets Eva at Compass Coffee, where they exchange flirty banter and a kiss. Izaiah reflects on his past and how his new job allows him to give others the support he once needed. When Ted calls Eva from the stuck elevator, she quickly rearranges his schedule. Afterwards, Izaiah invites her over, but Eva asks to take things slowly, feeling deeply connected. Izaiah agrees, saying theres nothing wrong with the scenic route.

Joey Reminds Vernon of Their Similarities
Vernon confronts Joey about the check he gave Martin, wary of Joey using the campaign for leverage. Joey agrees to keep his distance but points out that he and Vernon arent as different as Vernon likes to believe. With that, Vernon leaves.
