Steelers Wide Receiver DK Metcalf Awaits Decision on Punishment Following Incident with Bills

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is currently waiting to hear if he will face disciplinary action after an incident during Sundays game against the Buffalo Bills. The Steelers were aiming to avoid back-to-back defeats as they hosted Josh Allen and the Bills in Week 13.

Coming off a narrow 31-28 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 12, Pittsburgh held a 6-5 record entering the matchup. With 8:09 left in the second quarter, Steelers running back Jaylen Warren powered through for a one-yard touchdown, giving Pittsburgh a 7-0 advantage. Following the score, Metcalf directed a too short gesture at Buffalo cornerback Christian Benford, who he had clashed with earlier.

The officials quickly flagged Metcalf for unsportsmanlike conduct, enforced between downs. His gesture could also result in a substantial fine. NFL regulations allow fines up to $14,491 for a first unsportsmanlike conduct offense, rising to $20,288 for repeat violations. Through Week 12 of the 2025 season, the league has issued eight unsportsmanlike conduct fines totaling $704,351, including one for Metcalfs teammate Jalen Ramsey.

If fined, Metcalf would not be facing his first penalty this season. After the Week 8 loss to the Green Bay Packers, he was fined $12,172 for fighting. Over his seven-year career, the former Ole Miss standout has been fined 15 times, totaling $219,215.
