Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2026 Collection: Having Fun with Horses

Celebrating the Year of the Horse according to the Chinese lunar calendar, Stella McCartneys Pre-Fall 2026 collection showcased the majestic animal across knitwear, denim, and accessories. The designer also drew inspiration from her childhood in the Scottish countryside and her parents classic wardrobes.

The lineup featured structured jackets with defined waists, extended vests, double-breasted outerwear, and various denim pieces. Many items were adorned with a golden SMC crest, a nod to the embroidery on a pair of Paul McCartneys vintage slippers. Jackets were often paired with wide-leg, pleated trousers crafted from sustainably sourced wool.

McCartney incorporated deadstock heritage check fabrics into retro 70s suits, while other tailored jackets and coats were enhanced with hand-applied, lead-free crystal embroidery. Flowing dresses evoked 1940s silhouettes, complete with draping, peplums, handkerchief shoulders, and corded lace detailing.

References to the Scottish countryside appeared in oversized recycled cashmere cardigans, ribbed turtlenecks with vegan leather paneling, textured Aran cable knits, and horse intarsia needle-punch designs. Corduroy-denim hybrids, distressed patchworks, and washed brown corduroy offered a lived-in, vintage 70s aesthetic. Jeans appeared in bootcut and cuffed boyfriend styles.

Environmental responsibility remained central to McCartneys approach: 98% of the collection utilized sustainable materials, including forest-friendly viscose and acetate, responsibly sourced wool, certified organic cotton, and recycled Econyl. Vegan leather alternatives included grape-based Vegea, air-purifying Airlite bags, and algae-based pigments from Living Ink.
