‘Stranger Things’ Cast's Reaction to Season 5 Twist Caught on Camera During Table Read

The final season of Stranger Things has already delivered its first major shock, and the cast can finally exhale. A behind-the-scenes video posted on the shows official YouTube channel shows creators Matt and Ross Duffer revealing the dramatic ending of Episode 4, titled Chapter Four: Sorcerer, during a table read with the actors.

In the last moments of Volume 1 of Season 5, the situation appears hopeless. Demogorgons overrun a military base where Will and his friends are desperately trying to flee, while Eleven remains trapped in the Upside Down. Just as everything seems lost, the creatures suddenly freeze in midair before disintegrating. It is then revealed that Will has been controlling them with telekinetic power.

The episode ends on an eerie note as Will looks upward and wipes blood from his nose a familiar side effect previously associated with Elevens abilities.

Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, has spoken about the importance of this moment. He explained that fear has always been misunderstood as weakness when it comes to his character. After everything Will has survived, that fear has actually shaped his resilience. Despite being terrified, he continues to persevere and never breaks, which ultimately becomes his true strength.

According to Matt Duffer, conversations about the final season always circled back to Will. Although his presence was quieter in Season 4, he remains one of the storys most essential figures. Since his disappearance began the entire series, Season 5 was designed to return to its origin and bring the narrative full circle.

Duffer added that this season is just as much about Wills internal journey as it is about supernatural events. Understanding and accepting who he truly is becomes the key to unlocking his greatest power, linking his personal growth directly to the otherworldly forces at play.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are now available to stream. The remaining three episodes will be released on Christmas Day, with the final episode arriving on New Years Eve.
