Fans of Supernatural expressed immense excitement during the latest cast reunion, which included a surprising political moment that energized the audience. The event took place on Thursday at CCXP in So Paulo, Brazil, celebrating two decades since the show first premiered in 2006.
The reunion featured former cast members Misha Collins, Kathryn Newton, Jim Beaver, and Rob Benedict, along with director Richard Speight Jr. Notably absent were Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who portrayed the Winchester brothers on the series that concluded in November 2020 after 15 seasons.
Attendees filled the So Paulo Expo, enthusiastically cheering and singing along to Kansas iconic Carry on Wayward Son, a song closely associated with the series. The crowds energy was palpable as they welcomed the cast back to the stage.
Collins, who played the angel Castiel, remarked on the enduring popularity of the show abroad. When were back home in the U.S., nobody pays any attention to us anymore, he said. But here, there must be a lag or something because you still know what Supernatural is.
The panel took a politically charged turn when a fan asked Newton about the type of monster she would like to face. Newton mentioned dragons, prompting Collins to joke about a real-world figure. You mean like, what kind of an evil monster character would we want to go up against? he said. I think itd be fun to take on Donald Trump. The comment received a strong cheer from the audience, to which Collins added, Weve found our people. So, not a big MAGA crowd here? The moderator quickly moved the discussion to a video segment without responding to the remark.
Earlier, Newton speculated on the future of her character Claire. Im sure Claires out there, still kicking ass and taking names, she said. Theres always going to be monsters, and somebodys always got to find them.
