Tammie Rosen, a respected communications executive known for her work with the Sundance Institute and the Tribeca Film Festival, has passed away at the age of 49 after battling cancer. Colleagues and friends remember her for both her professional excellence and her genuine kindness.
Rosen was a devoted advocate for independent filmmaking and the creative community. She was known for her accessibility and willingness to support filmmakers, festivals, and colleagues alike.
Tammie was an extraordinary leader whose integrity, compassion, and dedication left a lasting mark on our organization, said Ebs Burnough, Chair of the Sundance Institute Board. Through her work, the story of Sundance was shared with authenticity and heart, reflecting the passion she brought to every endeavor.
Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal, who worked with Rosen during her tenure as EVP of Communications and Programming at Tribeca Enterprises, described her as passionate, selfless, and tireless in her support of the arts, filmmakers, and the stories they bring to life.
A native of New Jersey, Rosen began her Hollywood career at Rubenstein Communications, joining the Tribeca Film Festival shortly after its inception. She later became an integral part of Tribeca, helping the festival grow into a globally recognized platform for independent film. De Niro and Rosenthal noted that she joined Tribeca full-time in 2007 and played a key role in expanding the festival internationally, including to Rome, Beijing, and Doha, while also exploring innovation in music and sports.
In 2019, Rosen became the chief communications officer at the Sundance Institute, guiding the organization through significant transitions such as the digital pivot during the COVID-19 pandemic, the return to in-person events in Park City in 2023, and the move toward its future home in Boulder, Colorado. Burnough added, Tammie inspired everyone around her with her warmth, intelligence, and moral integrity. Her presence and laughter will be deeply missed across the industry.
Rosen is survived by her mother, Sheryle, her sister Stefani, and her brother Brian.
