Tereza Nvotová, Director of Slovakia's Oscar-Nominated Film 'Father', Joins Independent Talent Agency

Tereza Nvotov, the filmmaker behind Slovakias 2026 Academy Awards submission Father, has officially partnered with the Independent Talent Agency.

Father premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival and was later shortlisted for the European Film Awards. The film competed in the main section of the Zurich Film Festival, where it received the Best Film Award. It also earned top honors at multiple international festivals, including Best Film and Best Screenplay at Stockholm, Best Director at Antalya, and the Golden Frog at Camerimage for debut cinematographers.

Prior to Father, Nvotov directed Nightsiren, a feminist mystery-drama that won the Golden Leopard in the Filmmakers of the Present category at Locarno. Her debut feature, Filthy, had its premiere at Rotterdam. She initially gained recognition as a documentarian, with notable works including the HBO feature The Lust for Power, which was shortlisted for the European Film Awards. Nvotov is also slated to direct the political true-crime limited series Our People.

Representatives from Independent Talent, Olivia Gray and Molly Eagles, praised Nvotov, stating: Tereza is an extraordinary storyteller, with a gift for exploring taboo subjects and portraying complex characters with honesty, beauty, and raw intensity. We are thrilled to support her at this pivotal stage, as Father solidifies her position as a rising international filmmaker.

Nvotov commented on the new collaboration: Im thrilled to join Molly, Olivia, and the Independent team. They represent artists and work I deeply respect. Its inspiring to be part of this agency.

She will continue to maintain representation with UTA and Black Bear.
