Timothe Chalamet recently opened up about an unexpected message he received from Leonardo DiCaprio. The actor, 29, who is currently promoting the Josh Safdie-directed film Marty Supreme, recalled that DiCaprio reached out after hearing about his recent haircut. "He said, I heard they shaved your head. Say it aint so! Chalamet revealed.
The actor appeared in a new commercial for Lucid Motors electric sedan, the Lucid Air Sapphire, where he rode along at high speeds while answering questions from New York Knicks players Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. In the ad, Chalamet reflected on some of his acting inspirations, mentioning Denzel Washington, Christian Bale, and Joaquin Phoenix as the GOATs. He noted that unlike sports, acting is more about competing with oneself, saying, No ones going to unlock the best version of yourself but you.
Chalamet and DiCaprio previously starred together in the 2021 film Dont Look Up. This awards season, both actors are receiving attention for leading roles: Chalamet for Marty Supreme and DiCaprio for Paul Thomas Andersons One Battle After Another. Chalamet also shared that DiCaprio once offered him advice back in 2018: "no hard drugs and no superhero movies."
The actors new buzz cut first drew attention in Saint-Tropez while he was with his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, and became more public in October as he promoted Marty Supreme. The film, which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, and Odessa Azion, is set to hit theaters on December 25.
Author's Analysis: Chalamet and DiCaprio's Professional Rapport
Timothée Chalamet’s recent comments highlight a professional rapport with Leonardo DiCaprio that extends beyond on-screen collaborations. The unexpected message about his haircut underscores a personal connection between the two actors, reflecting mutual respect in the industry.
The context of Chalamet promoting Marty Supreme alongside DiCaprio’s attention for One Battle After Another positions both actors as central figures in this awards season. Chalamet’s reflections on acting, emphasizing self-competition rather than rivalry, provide insight into his approach and mindset as he navigates major projects.
This interaction also illustrates the continuity of mentorship in Hollywood. DiCaprio’s earlier advice in 2018 about avoiding hard drugs and superhero films aligns with Chalamet’s current career choices, suggesting that guidance from established actors can influence younger talent’s trajectory.
Overall, the exchange and Chalamet’s public promotion of Marty Supreme reinforce his emerging status as a versatile actor committed to craft and thoughtful professional relationships.
