Valerie Bertinelli unknowingly eats food licked by Drew Barrymore's dog on talk show: 'I don't mind'

Valerie Bertinelli showed no hesitation when she accidentally consumed a snack previously licked by Drew Barrymores dog, Douglas, during a food segment on The Drew Barrymore Show on Thursday.

The One Day at a Time star was demonstrating how hosts can prepare personalized cheese plates for party guests. She brought out a small dish containing cheeses, olives, and meats.

As Bertinelli reached for an olive, co-host Ross Mathews exclaimed, You know what, I want you to eat mine. Wait, wait, wait! Oh! He quickly added that Douglas had licked her cheese plate before it was served.

The audience reacted with laughter and groans while Mathews attempted to swap plates. Bertinelli declined and kept hers, shrugging off the incident. I dont care, she stated simply.

Barrymore then pivoted to party food tips, suggesting that dishes like guacamole should be served in individual portions rather than in large communal bowls. Bertinelli agreed enthusiastically, praising the idea of single-serving guacamole.

Mathews also expressed support for the concept of small cheese plates, noting how enjoyable they would be at parties. Bertinelli highlighted the deliciousness of the snacks, especially the lightly salted, crunchy crackers served alongside the cheese.

Her calm reaction may be influenced by her experience with pets, as Bertinelli owns several, including her dog Luna and cats Batman, Tigger, Sir Henry, Bubba, and Beau. She recently shared a video featuring Batman while signing copies of her upcoming memoir, Getting Naked: The Quiet Work of Becoming Perfectly Imperfect.

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS.
