Video of ‘Stranger Things 5’ Table Read Reveals Cast's Shock at Will Byers Twist

Spoiler Alert: The following contains major spoilers for Season 5 of Stranger Things.

The cast of Stranger Things was left visibly stunned when the Duffer brothers unveiled a shocking revelation for Season 5 Volume 1: Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) emerges as a powerful sorcerer. A video shared on the shows official YouTube page captures the actors genuine reactions during a table read.

Included in the clip are Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, and Caleb McLaughlin. As Matt Duffer read the climactic scenes, the actors cheered, clapped, and reacted with amazement to Wills dramatic transformation and the conclusion of Volume 1.

The finale of Volume 1 depicts Will taking down a group of Demogorgons that have unleashed chaos in the Upside Down. His newfound abilities allow him to save his friends and confront Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) with unprecedented power. As Matt Duffer narrated:

Mike, Lucas, and Robin watch transfixed as the monsters levitate ten feet into the air. Will closes his eyes and clenches his fists. In quick succession, the Demogorgons are destroyed. Will collapses to his knees amid the fiery battlefield. Mike and Joyce stare in awe. Slowly, Will opens his eyes, now filled with calm and strength. He is in controla sorcerer. As blood trickles from his nose, Volume 1 concludes.

During the read, Millie Bobby Brown playfully banged the table and joked with Schnapp, Youre one of me! Now you get to handle that nosebleed, referencing Elevens iconic blood-nose moments.

In a previous interview, the Duffer brothers clarified that while Wills abilities share similarities with Elevens, they are distinct. Ross Duffer explained, Will channels Vecnas powers. He doesnt inherently possess them; he manipulates them, almost like puppeteering. Matt Duffer added, He taps into the hive mind and can control elements within it. He can manipulate the monsters, but not objects outside the hive.

The first four episodes of Stranger Things Season 5 are currently streaming on Netflix. The following three episodes will premiere on Christmas, with the season finale releasing on New Years Eve.
