White House Removes Video Promoting ICE Arrests Following Sabrina Carpenter's Viral Response — and Substitutes It with Another

The White House has taken down a video promoting ICE arrests from its X account after pop star Sabrina Carpenter criticized the use of her song "Juno" as the soundtrack, but it has since shared a new video on TikTok instead.

The original video, posted on Monday, Dec. 1, featured clips of immigration officers conducting arrests while Carpenters song repeated the line, "Have you ever tried this one?" The White House captioned it, "Have you ever tried this one? Bye-bye ."

Following Carpenter's viral response on Tuesday, Dec. 2, the video was deleted from X on Friday, Dec. 5. In her comment, which received over a million likes, Carpenter called the clip "evil and disgusting" and demanded her music not be used to support what she described as an "inhumane agenda."

Although the X post was removed, the White House posted a new video on TikTok later that day. The updated clip includes footage of Carpenter from her Saturday Night Live appearance alongside more arrest scenes, using her joke about needing to "arrest someone for being too hot" with the word "illegal." The TikTok is captioned: "PSA: If you're a criminal illegal, you WILL be arrested & deported. "

Carpenters song had recently been part of a TikTok trend where users mimic suggestive poses in time with the lyrics she performs on tour. The administrations original video repurposed this trend without her consent, prompting her strong public objection.

Carpenter is among several artists, including Cline Dion, Bruce Springsteen, Linkin Park, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, who have spoken out against the use of their music in political or promotional videos by the Trump Administration.
