Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are reportedly rejecting a recent lawsuit brought by their longtime acquaintance, Bilaal Salaam. Sources close to the couple claim the allegations are exaggerated and driven by financial motives. The couple is said to be shocked and upset as the lawsuit revives old controversies they have consistently denied.
Insiders suggest that Will and Jada consider the $3 million legal action a clear attempt to profit from their fame. An entertainment source told People, They are extremely angry and feel this is nonsense. The same source described Salaam as someone looking to take advantage of them financially. According to the insider, the Smiths view the lawsuit as a scheme to extract money from them. They also noted the couple is naturally wary of people spreading private information.
Another source supported this view, explaining that although Salaam had a long-standing connection with Will, he eventually became a chatterbox, which caused frustration for both Will and Jada. The source added that public figures often prefer to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight, particularly in controversial contexts.
The source also mentioned that Salaams lawsuit appeared to be crafted primarily as a way to secure financial gain.
In the lawsuit, Bilaal Salaam claims that Pinkett Smith confronted him in a building lobby, warning him that continuing to share her personal information could put him in danger. He further alleges that she pressured him to sign a nondisclosure agreement and followed him to his car while issuing threats. Salaam also says he faced warnings from the couples associates and was subjected to what he describes as a retaliatory campaign following a widely shared interview he gave.
The legal filing accuses the Smiths of intentional infliction of emotional distress, referencing a later interview where Pinkett Smith claimed Salaam was attempting to exploit the couple for money.
There has been no official statement from Bilaal Salaam, Will Smith, or Jada Pinkett Smith regarding the claims.
