Zachery Ty Bryan was formally arraigned on December 3, following his November 29 arrest for an alleged probation violation connected to an incident involving his fiance, Johnnie Faye Cartwright. Court documents indicate that Bryan has been moved to a new correctional facility and has a scheduled hearing later this month after contesting the violation charges in court.
During his arraignment, the 44-year-old former Home Improvement actor entered a not guilty plea to allegations of violating probation linked to a prior domestic violence conviction. His hearing for the probation matter is set for later in December. Initially, Bryan was denied bail and assigned an end-of-sentence date coinciding with his arraignment.
Records now show that Bryan is in custody at Lane County Community Corrections under a detainer. According to the Lane County website, the program houses offenders in a structured environment, allowing temporary leave for work or approved activities such as treatment programs.
Bryans arrest on November 29 followed an incident involving Cartwright, who was also taken into custody the same day. She was arraigned on December 1 and pleaded not guilty to charges including driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, and multiple counts of reckless driving.
Authorities reported that deputies responded to a call about reckless endangerment in the Big Fall Creek Road area, a popular camping spot northeast of Lowell. According to the police statement, Bryan exited a pickup truck, and Cartwright attempted to drive the vehicle toward him, causing it to crash into a ditch. Both adults showed signs of impairment, and witnesses were interviewed. No injuries occurred, and the couples three children were placed with a family member.
As a result of the incident, Cartwright was charged with attempted first-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and DUII. Bryan was arrested for a probation violation related to a prior fourth-degree assault charge.
The couple, engaged since November 2021, share three children: daughter Kennedy, 3, and twins Parker and Sequoia, 2. Bryan has faced multiple legal issues over the past five years, including domestic violence and DUI charges. In 2021, he pled guilty to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges, followed by a fourth-degree felony assault plea in 2023, and DUI arrests in 2024.
Analysis: Zachery Ty Bryan's Legal Troubles Continue
Following the recent arrest of Zachery Ty Bryan on November 29, it is evident that his legal issues are far from over. The former "Home Improvement" actor now faces a new probation violation charge linked to a past domestic violence conviction. During his formal arraignment on December 3, Bryan entered a not guilty plea and was denied bail. This follows his previous criminal history, which includes charges of domestic violence, DUI, and reckless behavior, culminating in multiple arrests over the past few years.
As per court documents, Bryan is currently being held at Lane County Community Corrections under a detainer, with his hearing scheduled for later this month. It is clear that his legal troubles are mounting, and the outcome of his hearing will be critical in determining his future. The situation is further complicated by the involvement of his fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, who was arrested the same day and faces charges including DUII and reckless endangerment. The couple’s history of troubling incidents has raised concerns about their relationship and the welfare of their three children, who were temporarily placed with a family member.
The ongoing legal proceedings will likely shed more light on the severity of Bryan’s situation and may influence future sentencing or rehabilitation efforts. As it stands, the case underscores the impact of repeated legal violations on personal and family life, especially when children are involved. The coming months will be crucial in determining whether Bryan can make amends or face further consequences for his actions.
