As in previous years, Wiltshires waste and recycling schedules will be adjusted during the holiday period. The council has confirmed that no collections will take place between Christmas Eve and 29 December.
Residents are being encouraged to review their waste collection calendars to ensure bins are placed out on the correct revised dates and to avoid missed pickups. The temporary changes will affect household waste, recycling, and garden waste services.
How Will the Adjustments Affect Residents?
The impact will vary depending on each households current collection day and location. For instance, households in the BA15 1LW area of Bradford on Avon, who would normally expect a waste collection on 26 December, will instead be serviced on 30 December. Meanwhile, residents in Salisburys SP2 7HT area will experience a longer delay, with no pickups scheduled between 19 December and 6 January.
All council-operated recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years Day. Centres that usually open on Wednesdays will also close at 13:00 GMT on Christmas Eve. On all other designated days, normal operating hours will apply.
Garden Waste Services
Garden waste collections will pause for a two-week period from 22 December to 2 January. Those wishing to recycle Christmas trees are advised to place them beside their garden waste bin for the first scheduled collection in January.
Residents in Swindon are advised that their borough council will publish updated festive collection dates next week.
