Texas A&M Student Passes Away Shortly After Attending Tailgate for Football Game

A Texas A&M sophomore tragically died on Saturday, Nov. 29, just hours after attending a football tailgate at the University of Texas. Brianna Aguilera was discovered at a student apartment complex shortly before 1 a.m., according to local news outlet KBTX.

Aguilera's family expressed that they are still seeking answers regarding the circumstances surrounding her sudden death. According to KBTX, the Austin Police Department confirmed that she passed away just hours after attending the tailgate for the Texas A&M vs. University of Texas football game.

The details surrounding what happened next remain unclear, the family wrote on a GoFundMe page created on Nov. 30. Police stated that Aguilera was found at a student apartment complex near the University of Texas campus, and while the Travis County medical examiner will determine the cause of death, no foul play is suspected at this time.

The GoFundMe campaign for Aguilera has nearly doubled its initial $12,000 goal as of Monday afternoon. Her mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, posted a message on Sunday thanking supporters for their "love and support at this moment." Rodriguez described the loss of her daughter as "unexpected" and "tremendously challenging," but said she draws comfort from the overwhelming kindness of friends and strangers alike.

Ive experienced every parents worst fear, but Im comforted knowing that Brianna touched so many hearts, Rodriguez wrote. She continued, I thank you all for every word and emotion shared for my Brianna she adored each of you, and though my princess is in a brighter place, I find solace in the memories we made together.

Rodriguez added that she finds peace knowing her "baby angel" is with God and promised to inform supporters about the upcoming services for her daughter.

According to the GoFundMe page, Aguilera graduated Magna Cum Laude from United High School in Laredo, Texas, where she participated as a cheerleader. She was pursuing her dream of becoming a lawyer while attending The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M. Her family noted that her dream was always to be an Aggie!
