A 33-year-old man has admitted to stalking a 16-year-old girl in Swind
At Swindon Magistrates' Court on April 1, Dariusz Sicinski, a 33-year-old man residing on Robertson Road, appeared and pleaded guilty to charges of stalking that caused serious alarm and distress to a 16-year-old girl. The case involved repeated unwanted attention, including requests for kisses and gifts, which significantly affected the victim’s daily life.
The girl, while traveling to her campus, experienced persistent intrusion by Sicinski, whose behavior escalated over time. Her repeated attempts to maintain personal space were ignored, and the unwanted interactions created significant anxiety and emotional distress. The situation prompted her to contact law enforcement, who immediately began monitoring the area.
Wiltshire Police implemented surveillance measures near the bus stop along her route. Officers in unmarked vehicles observed Sicinski’s activities during the morning commute. On one occasion, Sicinski arrived in a van and approached the victim, prompting immediate intervention by the police, who arrested him at the scene.
Detective Constable Niall Maidment of Wiltshire Police noted that the suspect’s persistent behavior constituted a clear pattern of obsessive pursuit, which had caused significant fear and distress to the young victim. The girl’s consistent exposure to these actions highlighted the serious impact of stalking on her wellbeing and daily routines.
Following his arrest, Sicinski was granted temporary release, with his next court appearance for sentencing scheduled for May 6 at Cheltenham’s courthouse. Authorities emphasized the importance of reporting ongoing unwanted behavior, as timely action allowed them to prevent further incidents and ensure the suspect was held accountable for his actions.
The case demonstrates the serious consequences of stalking and the critical role of law enforcement in protecting victims. Prompt reporting and police intervention were crucial in stopping Sicinski’s persistent harassment and in maintaining the safety of the affected individual.
Throughout the proceedings, the court considered the repeated nature of the offenses, the emotional impact on the victim, and the suspect’s deliberate attempts to breach her personal space. The outcome highlights the legal system’s response to stalking, reinforcing protections for victims and emphasizing the need for vigilance against such behavior.
By addressing the matter promptly, authorities ensured the victim could continue her daily routine with increased safety and reduced fear. Sicinski’s actions, including the delivery of gifts and requests for physical contact, were treated as part of a sustained pattern of harassment, resulting in legal proceedings that reflect the seriousness of the offense.
