Marjorie Taylor Greene predicts Tucker Carlson would defeat Trump in 2028

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former U.S. Representative, recently voiced her strong support for conservative media figure Tucker Carlson, suggesting that he could defeat former President Donald Trump in a potential presidential race in 2028. The comments come amid growing tensions between Carlson and Trump, stemming from disagreements about the U.S. involvement in the war against Iran.

On March 5, Greene took to the social media platform X, where she posted her public endorsement of Carlson, declaring, "I SUPPORT TUCKER." In her post, Greene implied that if Trump were to run for a third term in 2028, Carlson would be able to win the presidential race. She referred to the constitutional limits that restrict U.S. presidents to two terms, alluding to the speculation that Trump might attempt a third term despite the legal barrier.

The U.S. Constitution prohibits presidents from serving more than two terms. However, Trump has hinted at the possibility of seeking a third term, despite this constitutional restriction. Greene’s statement was made in the context of discussions surrounding the 2028 election, highlighting her belief that Carlson could take on Trump successfully in the race.

Greene’s remarks came shortly after ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl reported that Trump had criticized Carlson for his comments on the ongoing war in Iran. Carlson had recently referred to the U.S. military action in Iran as "disgusting" and "evil," a position that did not sit well with Trump. In his response, Trump questioned Carlson's stance, claiming that Carlson had lost his way and was no longer aligned with the MAGA movement, which Trump has championed as a platform focused on saving America and prioritizing American interests.

The disagreement comes in the wake of recent military operations targeting Iran. On February 28, U.S. and Israeli forces launched strikes against Iranian targets. The conflict has already resulted in the deaths of several American soldiers, with reports confirming that six U.S. soldiers were killed during the operations. Some of Trump’s allies have criticized the military actions, and the debate over U.S. involvement in the war has sparked intense discussions among conservative commentators and political figures.

Greene’s support for Carlson highlights a growing divide between her and Trump, especially considering their previous strong political ties. Greene, who represented Georgia in the U.S. House of Representatives, had been a vocal ally of Trump, but their relationship began to show signs of strain in 2025. One key point of contention arose when Greene publicly disagreed with Trump and the Republican Party over their handling of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This disagreement, among others, led Greene to step down from her congressional seat in November 2025. She later explained her decision to leave Congress by stating that she wanted to pursue a new path in life, outside of politics.

Before resigning from Congress, Greene and Trump’s relationship had already soured. Trump publicly described Greene as "wacky" and, just before her departure, labeled her a "traitor." Since leaving Congress, Greene has continued to voice criticism of both the Republican Party and Trump, focusing on policy issues such as the ongoing war with Iran. Her stance on the war aligns with other conservative figures who have raised concerns about the military campaign, including Tucker Carlson.

Greene is not the only conservative voice questioning the military actions in Iran. Carlson, for instance, has been outspoken about his opposition to the strikes, calling them "disgusting" and "evil." Megyn Kelly, another well-known conservative commentator, has also expressed skepticism about the conflict. Kelly has stated that she would need more substantial evidence to justify the operation, particularly in terms of the potential costs in American lives and resources.

In response to critics like Carlson and Kelly, Trump has dismissed their concerns in an interview with journalist Rachael Bade. During this conversation, Trump reiterated that the MAGA movement is centered around his leadership and vision for America, insisting that figures like Carlson and Kelly are not part of that movement. According to Trump, the MAGA agenda is synonymous with his own policies, and he does not consider Carlson or Kelly to be aligned with it.
