Bronwyn Newport says she is the one who keeps her husband, Todd Bradley, informed about what people are saying about him online even though he is not active on social media. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star spoke to PEOPLE during Julio Torres The Cursed Amulet Halloween event on October 30, recalling a past couples costume that unexpectedly predicted a future internet moment.
Newport explained that the two once dressed as characters from the animated film Up, with Bradley portraying Carl Fredricksen and her going as Kevin the bird. Not long after, someone created a meme comparing Bradley to the beloved Pixar character.
Since Bradley does not use social platforms, Newport said she has to record her screen whenever she wants to show him something from Instagram before sending it to him by text. She admitted that this process takes away some of the humor, but confirmed that he knows he has become a recurring meme.
According to Newport, Bradley has a mixed reaction to the online comparison, feeling both lightly flattered and mildly offended.
Bradley has drawn attention for reasons beyond the meme since Newport joined the fifth season of RHOSLC in 2024. Castmate Heather Gay criticized him during the season and questioned Newports decision not to sign a prenuptial agreement. In another episode, Newport shared that her daughter, Gwen, had once found Bradley involved in an emotional affair, prompting further questions about the couples marriage.
Newport explained to the group that Bradleys personality, especially his drive in business, makes it hard for him to switch off when he is home. She described this as a significant flaw, though one she has come to understand over time.
Despite the challenges, Newport said that by the time filming began for season six, the two were in a stronger place. She noted in a February interview that Bradley made an effort to address issues when they were brought up and that defending him often reminded her of what she appreciates about him.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
Analysis: The Complex Dynamics of Bronwyn Newport and Todd Bradley's Public Life
Bronwyn Newport’s recent revelation about managing Todd Bradley’s exposure to online commentary highlights the intersection of celebrity, privacy, and the pressures of social media. While Bradley himself avoids engaging with platforms like Instagram, Newport takes the responsibility of curating and filtering online discussions about him, ensuring he stays informed while maintaining a level of separation. This reflects a common dilemma faced by public figures whose lives are often dissected on social media, yet who may choose to remain distant from it.
Newport's story about the couples’ costume they once wore, which unexpectedly led to Bradley being turned into a meme, further underscores the unpredictable nature of internet culture. Memes can quickly elevate a public figure from relative obscurity to viral status. Bradley’s reaction to the meme — a mix of flattery and offense — mirrors a natural, human response to both admiration and mockery. The digital age often blurs the line between praise and ridicule, making it increasingly difficult for individuals to maintain control over their public image.
Beyond the meme, the couple’s ongoing narrative within *The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City* introduces deeper, personal elements to their public personas. From Heather Gay’s criticism of Bradley’s lack of a prenuptial agreement to the disclosure of a past emotional affair, Newport’s life has been under intense scrutiny. However, Newport’s candidness about the struggles in her marriage, especially her acknowledgment of Bradley’s difficulty in switching off from his business-oriented mindset, reveals a couple navigating both personal and public challenges.
As Newport has come to understand Bradley’s flaws, the couple's relationship appears to have grown stronger, particularly as they entered the filming of season six. This journey of growth within the confines of public life shows that, even in the reality TV spotlight, relationships are dynamic and multifaceted. It also serves as a reminder that the path to resolving marital issues is rarely linear, especially when those issues play out in front of a national audience.
