Callum Turner Reportedly Considered for Next James Bond role

Rumors are swirling that Callum Turner has become the top choice to portray James Bond in Denis Villeneuves upcoming reboot of the iconic action-thriller franchise. The film has yet to officially announce its lead actor, but speculation about who will succeed Daniel Craig is intensifying.

Alongside Turner, other potential candidates include Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill, who have been widely discussed by fans as possible successors. According to a source from the betting company Coral (via The Standard), Turners odds have risen dramatically, moving from 5-2 to 7-4 after increased betting activity.

Taylor-Johnson and Theo James currently follow in second place with odds of 3-1. Turner has long been considered a frontrunner for the role. Last month, Time & Tide reported, citing VegasInsider, that Turner overtook Taylor-Johnson with odds of +262 (implied probability: 27.6%). Taylor-Johnson was second at +280 (26.3%), followed by Cavill (+762; 11.6%), James (+964; 9.4%), and Lowden and Dickinson (+1534; 6.1%).

Interest in Turners casting was further fueled by a report from The Telegraph, which highlighted a possible visit by Turner and his fiance, Dua Lipa, to the GoldenEye resort in Oracabessa Bay, Jamaica. The resort, historically significant, was once owned by Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, who wrote many of his novels there.

Turner is known for his performances in the Fantastic Beasts series and Masters of the Air, and he recently gained recognition for his role in A24s romantic comedy Eternity, alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller.

Author's Take: Callum Turner Leading the Race for James Bond

The speculation surrounding the next James Bond continues to grow, with Callum Turner emerging as the apparent frontrunner. Betting activity indicates a sharp increase in confidence, pushing Turner’s odds from 5-2 to 7-4, signaling strong public and industry interest.

Other contenders, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill, remain in the mix, but current trends suggest Turner has gained a decisive edge. His recent projects, such as the Fantastic Beasts franchise and Masters of the Air, combined with his performance in the A24 film Eternity, demonstrate his versatility and rising profile.

Adding to the speculation is a potential connection to the Bond legacy itself: Turner and his fiancée Dua Lipa were reported to have visited the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica, a location deeply tied to Ian Fleming. While unconfirmed, this visit has fueled fan discussion and media attention.

At this stage, the official announcement from Denis Villeneuve’s production team is still pending. However, current data from betting markets and media reports suggest that Turner’s candidacy is gaining significant momentum, making him the most likely successor to Daniel Craig.
