Check out the latest TV shows this week: Tune in for new episodes of 'Ghosts' on CBS, watch 'Heated Rivalry' on HBO Max, and stream 'The Big C' on Netflix

Television critic Michel Ghanem, known online as TVScholar, introduces a biweekly guide titled Trust Me, I Watch Everything, where he highlights series worth viewers' time. As the holiday season approaches, he leans toward comforting shows and offers several recommendations.

One suggestion is Ghosts, a reliable sitcom currently in its fifth season on CBS. The story follows Sam and Jay, a young couple who move into an inherited mansion in New York and discover they are sharing the space with a group of eccentric ghosts visible only to Sam after a near fatal accident. The series blends light humor with occasional darker twists and continues to remain engaging with festive episodes airing throughout December. Episodes premiere Thursdays on CBS and stream the following day on Paramount Plus.

The Pitt, praised as one of the strongest medical dramas in years, returns for its second season in January. Its ensemble cast, led by Noah Wyle, performs within a real time narrative format that adds energy to the genre. Viewers can revisit season one on TNT throughout December or stream the entire season on HBO Max.

Another recommendation is A Man on the Inside, a gentle Netflix comedy inspired by a real documentary. It follows Charles, a retired widower who takes on investigative work for a private detective looking into a missing necklace at a retirement home. The first season focuses on themes of aging, community and connection, while the second shifts to a university setting with new mysteries and character development. Both seasons are available on Netflix.

All Her Fault opens with a tense disappearance, as Marissa arrives for her childs playdate only to discover that her son is missing. Starring Sarah Snook, the series delves into the emotional turmoil and uncertainty that follow a kidnapping case. With strong performances and dramatic twists, it offers an absorbing watch. All episodes are streaming on Peacock.

Heated Rivalry, adapted from a romance novel by Rachel Reid, follows two rival hockey players who maintain a secret relationship while competing in the NHL. The Canadian series blends sports drama and romantic tension. New episodes stream Fridays on HBO Max.

For viewers seeking a period piece with humor, The Artist presents a playful mystery involving the murder of Norman Henry, whose suspects include historical figures such as Thomas Edison and Edgar Degas. The series is released in two parts on The Network, with the first half debuting on Thanksgiving and the second scheduled for Christmas Day.

The Big C, now streaming on Netflix, explores the life of Cathy Jamison, a teacher in Minneapolis diagnosed with terminal cancer. Starring Laura Linney, the series balances humor and poignancy as Cathy navigates her illness, relationships and the desire to make the most of the time she has left. Featuring guest appearances from Parker Posey, Idris Elba and Cynthia Nixon, the show remains a memorable example of early 2010s dramedy.

The latest installment of the guide concludes with an invitation for viewers to return on December 15 for additional recommendations and to share suggestions for future coverage.
