Cheryl Hines is reportedly very upset with her former Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Larry David, according to an insider. The two have not communicated since the HBO series concluded in 2024. During a recent appearance on Billy Bushs Hot Mics podcast, Hines, 68, hinted that her silence from David might be linked to her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.s political stance.
I love Larry and I believe he loves me, she expressed. I think its politics that complicates our conversations.
The source revealed, Cheryl misses Larry and has reached out multiple times since the show ended, but he hasnt responded. She understands it partially he is friends with Barack Obama, while she is married to one of Trumps close allies. Still, its disheartening for a friendship to end solely over political differences.
David, 78, is not the only person distancing from Hines. West Wing actor Bradley Whitford criticized her on X for not commenting when her husband supported Trump in the 2024 election. Comedian Tig Notaro also shared on Tom Papas Breaking Bread podcast on October 14 that her long-term friendship with Hines ended due to RFK Jr.s political views.
The insider added, What bothers Cheryl most is that so many others have followed Larrys example. Numerous old friends have pulled away, which has been difficult for her.
Cheryl Hines and the Cost of Political Divides
Cheryl Hines, best known for her role on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," is reportedly grappling with the fallout from political differences that have strained both her friendships and personal relationships. According to sources close to Hines, her former co-star, Larry David, has distanced himself from her, a rift that seems to be tied to her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s political alignment, particularly his support for Donald Trump in the 2024 election. This political divide has reportedly caused significant tension between the two, with Hines expressing sadness over the situation.
In a recent appearance on Billy Bush's Hot Mics podcast, Hines suggested that the strain on her relationship with David could be due to differing political stances. She acknowledged that her ties with David were likely impacted by his strong connections with Barack Obama and her marriage to a prominent Trump ally. "I love Larry and I believe he loves me," Hines said, "but I think it's politics that complicates our conversations."
However, it’s not just David who has distanced himself. Hines has also faced criticism from other public figures, including actor Bradley Whitford and comedian Tig Notaro. Whitford took to social media, accusing Hines of failing to comment when her husband publicly supported Trump, while Notaro shared that their long-term friendship ended over similar political disagreements. This growing sense of alienation from her social circle seems to weigh heavily on Hines.
At the heart of this issue is a deeper concern about the role politics plays in personal relationships. Hines has reportedly reached out to David multiple times since the conclusion of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" in 2024, but her efforts have gone unanswered. The source close to Hines shared that the actress understands why David has pulled away—after all, they are on opposing sides of the political spectrum—but the emotional toll of losing friends over these divides remains significant.
The situation highlights the increasingly divisive role of politics in personal and professional relationships. What was once a simple difference of opinion is now enough to fracture long-standing friendships. As this divide continues to grow, it raises the question: how many more relationships will be tested or even broken due to political differences?
