Lisanne Falk, known for her role in the cult classic Heathers, recently shared memories from the films set while appearing on the November 4 episode of The Patrick Labyorteaux Show with her co-star Patrick Labyorteaux. Falk, 60, portrayed Heather McNamara, while Labyorteaux played Ram Sweeney. Other key cast members included Winona Ryder as Veronica, Shannen Doherty as Heather Duke, the late Kim Walker as Heather Chandler, Christian Slater as J.D., and Lance Fenton as Kurt.

Falk revealed she joined Heathers at the last minute, without going through screen tests or chemistry reads. When asked about her relationship with the other cast members, she said her experiences were not dissimilar to Labyorteauxs. Ryder and Doherty were still attending school during filming, while Falk was older. She recalled having to shoot close-ups without the younger actresses present, learning to adapt in the moment.

Falk described Walker, who passed away in 2001 at age 32, as a more serious person whose intensity suited her on-screen character. Regarding Doherty, Falk said, She just came in there and she was always saying stuff and she basically kind of rubbed all of us the wrong way initially. It was very well known that she really wanted the part of Veronica and she vocalized and made a lot of noise about that. So we just all kind of tolerated her.

Falk spoke warmly about her friendship with Ryder, noting they became close during filming. She often stayed on set even when not required, observing the crew and learning the filmmaking process, which she called my film school. Their bond continued after filming, with Falk accompanying Ryder to Francis Ford Coppolas winery for screen tests for Bram Stoker's Dracula. Falk auditioned as well but was not cast, though she described Coppola as very cool.

Labyorteaux praised Ryder as a sweetheart and reflected on his complex relationship with Doherty, calling her a firebrand who could be fun or challenging depending on the situation. Falk echoed his sentiment, saying her favorite part of the experience was the friendships she formed and the overall project itself. She jokingly said, I peaked at 23. Heathers is my favorite role. My relationship with Winona that came from that and just meeting everybody and the whole experience and just the movie and the role and how it all turned out.

Today, Heathers remains a cult classic and has been adapted into an off-Broadway musical, continuing its influence decades after its original release.

Lisanne Falk Reflects on "Heathers" Legacy and Cast Relationships

Lisanne Falk, best known for her portrayal of Heather McNamara in the 1989 cult classic *Heathers*, recently shared her insights from the film's set during an appearance on *The Patrick Labyorteaux Show*. Reflecting on the film's enduring impact and her relationships with co-stars, Falk offered an honest, no-frills account of her experiences.

Falk, who joined *Heathers* without a screen test or chemistry read, emphasized the film’s unique atmosphere. She described her on-set experience as not dissimilar to that of co-star Patrick Labyorteaux, who played Ram Sweeney. While much of the younger cast, including Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty, were still in school, Falk, at 60, was older and had to adjust to the dynamic. She noted moments where she had to shoot close-ups alone, as the younger actresses were sometimes absent due to school commitments.

Falk spoke candidly about her castmates. She recalled Kim Walker, who portrayed Heather Chandler, as having a serious personality that matched her character’s intensity. In contrast, Falk described Doherty as initially rubbing the cast the wrong way due to her vocal desire for the role of Veronica. Despite these tensions, Falk’s recollections were more warm when discussing her friendship with Winona Ryder, who she bonded with during the film’s production. Their friendship continued even after the project, with Falk accompanying Ryder to auditions for *Bram Stoker’s Dracula*.

Today, *Heathers* is more than just a film; it remains a cultural touchstone. The movie’s themes of high school rebellion and dark humor still resonate with new generations, further cementing its status as a cult classic. Falk’s fondness for the film and her role is evident, as she joked, "I peaked at 23," highlighting how meaningful the experience was to her personally and professionally.
