'Little House on the Prairie': Carrie Actress Shares Insights into Michael Landon's On-Set Persona

Rachel Greenbush, the actress who portrayed Carrie Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, recently spoke about her experiences with Michael Landon on set. Landon, who played Charles "Pa" Wilder, Laura Ingalls Wilders father, also took on the roles of executive producer, director, and writer for the iconic series. The show aired for eight seasons, from 1974 to 1983. Landon passed away in 1991 after battling pancreatic cancer.

Greenbush and her twin sister, Sidney, shared the role of Carrie, the third daughter of Charles and Caroline Ingalls, and younger sister to Mary and Laura. Reflecting on her time with Landon, Rachel told Buzzfeed, Michael expected you to be ready and know your lines because he relied on you. He had high expectations, but he always kept things fun and light-hearted with jokes and laughter.

She added, He understood that we were kids. Sometimes hed flick peas at us during meals, for instance. He wanted us to be prepared, but he balanced it with humor and enjoyment.

Rachel also discussed working with Victor French, who played Mr. Edwards. French passed away in 1989 due to lung cancer. Victor was playful and fun, easy-going, and an excellent director. He understood actors and could clearly communicate his vision. He was a truly caring person, she said.

In addition, actress Melora Hardin, who portrayed Belinda Stevens, recalled Landons guidance. She told Fox News Digital, Michael Landon made everyone feel safe. He trusted us, and we trusted him. He protected us, which was an important lessonsurround yourself with people who make you feel secure.
