SNL Star and Superman Cast as Shrek's Sons Fergus and Farkle in Shrek 5

The upcoming Shrek 5 has added SNL actor Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo, known for his role as Jimmy Olsen in James Gunns Superman, to its voice cast. Hernandez will voice Shreks son Fergus, while Gisondo will bring to life Farkle.

The announcement was shared on Shreks official Instagram account, featuring playful text exchanges between the actors. Hernandez posted a message to Gisondo, saying, I might have gone a bit overboard, accompanied by photos of himself in green body paint portraying Fergus. Gisondo responded with a picture wearing a hat, joking, Buddy, these look amazing, but you know were just doing the voices, right?

Both actors bring notable experience to the project. Hernandez is recognized for his roles in Happy Gilmore 2, the TV mini-series Dying for Sex, and will also voice a character in The Angry Birds Movie 3. He is set to star in the comedy film 72 Hours.

Gisondos credits include Licorice Pizza, Booksmart, Vacation, The Righteous Gemstones, and Santa Clarita Diet. He will appear in the Meet the Parents sequel Focker-in-Law as the son of Ben Stiller and Teri Polo.

In addition to these new voices, Shrek 5 will see the return of fan-favorites Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. Universal Pictures has also cast Zendaya as Shrek and Fionas daughter, Flicia.

The film is scheduled for release on June 30, 2027.
