Hello TV fans! Im Michel Ghanem, a freelance television critic from Vancouver, Canada. Many of you might know me online as TVScholar, where I share reviews of the shows I watch with a dedicated community. I average about 160 seasons of TV a year, and Im excited to guide you through some standout series in Trust Me, I Watch Everything.
As the holiday season approaches, its the perfect time to indulge in comforting television. Here are a few recommendations for shows that are worth your time.
Ghosts (CBS, Paramount+)
Why watch: Now in its fifth season, Ghosts remains a top sitcom. Adapted from a British series, it follows Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a lively couple who inherit a mansion in upstate New York, dreaming of turning it into a bed and breakfast. After a near-fatal accident, Sam gains the ability to see the eccentric ghosts who haunt the property, from a Viking named Thorfinn to a Jazz-age singer, Alberta. The show balances humor with occasional darker twists, cleverly expanding its world over time. Holiday specials and regular episodes continue airing through December.
How to watch: New episodes air Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS, with next-day streaming on Paramount+.
The Pitt (TNT, HBO Max)
Why watch: A gripping medical drama with real-time storytelling and strong performances from Noah Wyle and an ensemble cast. Season 1 airs in blocks on TNT through December, with full streaming available on HBO Max. The series delivers tension and authenticity, making it a must-see for drama enthusiasts.
A Man on the Inside (Netflix)
Why watch: This heartwarming series stars Ted Danson as Charles, a retired widower who becomes a secret investigator in a retirement home. Based loosely on a real-life story, it highlights connections, community, and life in later years. Season 2 shifts the setting to an academic institution, offering new mysteries and character developments, including appearances by Mary Steenburgen.
How to watch: Both seasons are available for streaming on Netflix.
All Her Fault (Peacock)
Why watch: A gripping thriller, starring Sarah Snook, about a mother whose child goes missing during a playdate. The story delivers tension and emotional intensity, enhanced by strong performances from Jake Lacy and Sophia Lillis. Snooks return to TV is captivating, and the series twists make it binge-worthy for suspense fans.
How to watch: All eight episodes are available on Peacock.
Heated Rivalry (HBO Max)
Why watch: Based on a book by Rachel Reid, this Canadian adaptation explores a steamy romance between NHL rivals. The series features polished cinematography and mature content, portraying a rarely seen LGBTQ+ perspective in major North American sports.
How to watch: New episodes stream Fridays on HBO Max.
The Artist (The Network)
Why watch: A period dramedy with a murder mystery twist. Starring Mandy Patinkin and Janet McTeer, it follows an eccentric couple in an isolated farmhouse as historical icons become suspects. The series is released in two parts, offering a unique blend of humor and intrigue.
How to watch: Stream the first three episodes from Thanksgiving and the final three on Christmas Day via The Network.
The Big C (Netflix)
Why watch: This dramedy chronicles Cathy Jamison (Laura Linney), a high school teacher confronting a terminal cancer diagnosis. Balancing humor with poignant moments, it explores life, family, and resilience. Guest stars like Parker Posey, Idris Elba, and Cynthia Nixon enrich the series, making it a deeply moving experience.
