British Actors Sam Buchanan & Issy Knopfler Start Their Own Indie Label, Silent Knight Productions

Actors Sam Buchanan (Back to Black) and Issy Knopfler (Before We Die) have joined forces to establish their own independent production company, Silent Knight Productions. Their inaugural project is a short film titled Day Release, which will also serve as Buchanans directorial debut.

Written by Lewis Jamison and co-directed by Buchanan and Jamison, Day Release stars Jamison and follows the journey of a man from Middlesbrough recently released from prison on day release. As he navigates the streets of North Ormesby, commonly referred to as Doggy, he faces the challenge of rebuilding relationships while confronting the shadows of his past.

Reflecting on his new role behind the camera, Buchanan said, As an actor, Ive had the privilege to work with many directors I deeply admire. The chance to step on the other side of the camera was incredibly exciting.

Buchanan and Knopfler first met while appearing together in the fantasy series The Wayfinders. Buchanan shared that the mission of Silent Knight Productions is to create work, open opportunities, and give a platform to creatives striving to be heard.

Knopfler added, Telling authentic, compelling stories with passionate collaborators brings me immense joy. Just like Sam, Day Release was my first experience behind the camera. While we are learning, it has been a remarkable adventure. Exceptional scripts and driven storytelling are what drew me to acting, and now it feels natural to help bring more stories from script to screen.
