Iggy Azalea Declares She Has 'No Desire' to Make a Music Comeback

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has officially announced that she is stepping away from her music career. In recent years, she has concentrated on business and digital projects, and she reiterated that returning to the music scene is not in her plans.

The news emerged on Instagram on Friday, November 28, when Azalea posted a selfie that led a fan to ask if she had recently inked a new record deal. Responding in the comments, Azalea stated, Absolutely not. I did consider signing for a few weeks, but I am certain I dont want to come back to the music industry.

This statement reflects her gradual distancing from mainstream music releases. Her most recent studio album, The End of an Era (2021), was intended as a personal farewell to the industry, marking a turning point toward new creative ventures. Her 2014 debut, The New Classic, became an international sensation with the Billboard No. 1 hit Fancy, establishing her as one of the most commercially successful Australian rappers of her generation.

Earlier this year, Azalea claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that Universal Music Group owed her millions in unpaid royalties from international sales. She described the sum as being in the eight-figure range and accused the label of having technically stolen earnings from her early career. Universal did not respond publicly, while Azalea has continued to advocate for artist rights and transparency in royalty payments.

In August, she appeared on ABC News to discuss the challenges she faced during her rise to fame. She recounted being labeled an industry plant and described the rap world as a battlefield, noting, I was stepping on landmines left and right, and I just couldnt survive it. Its not survivable. She acknowledged making mistakes but emphasized that the emotional strain of fame reshaped her relationship with music: There are some things I walked into and deserve, or things I could have done better. But I cant sit here all day long feeling sorry about that. Its just part of life.

Since then, Azalea has focused on entrepreneurial endeavors, including cryptocurrency projects and online creative work, with no indication of a return to music. Her latest comments underline that her retirement from the industry is final, and a comeback appears highly unlikely.
