Kelly Clarkson delighted fans with a rare glimpse of her children, River Rose, 11, and Remington Remy Alexander, 9, on November 30. The singer, 43, shared a cozy winter moment on Instagram, showing her kids bundled up during a family outing in New York City.

"Ice skating at 30 Rock with the family ," Clarkson captioned the post, capturing their time at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. In the photo, an unidentified friend or relative stands behind the kids, while Remy waves at the camera, all dressed in warm jackets and beanies.

During an October segment of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson opened up about the guidance she hopes to give River as she grows older. I look at my daughter constantly and I'm just like, 'Look, I'm trying my best,' she shared. I know you're gonna end up in therapy one day. I don't know what for, but I'm trying my best to limit it. Just like, help out.

Clarkson welcomed her children with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who passed away from cancer at 48 in August. A source told PEOPLE that Clarkson was deeply saddened for her kids. "Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children and she is absolutely heartbroken for them," the source explained. "Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake."

River and Remy remain close to their mother, who has been focused on supporting them through this difficult time. Another source shared that Clarkson was devastated knowing that Blackstock privately battled cancer for three years. When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake, the source added.

Earlier in November, Clarkson revealed new dates for her Studio Sessions residency in Las Vegas after postponing several shows due to Blackstocks illness. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my childrens father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding, she said.

Kelly Clarkson's Heartfelt Family Moment Amid Personal Loss

The recent Instagram post by Kelly Clarkson, showcasing a rare family outing with her children, River and Remy, in New York City, offers a glimpse into the singer’s life as a mother navigating both joy and grief. Despite the ongoing struggles following the loss of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson has made it clear that her children remain her top priority. The shared moment at Rockefeller Center serves as a reminder that, while her professional life continues to thrive, it is her family that anchors her during difficult times.

Clarkson's candidness about the challenges of motherhood, especially in a public eye, reflects the complexity of balancing fame and family. In a previous appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she openly admitted to her daughter, River, that she couldn’t shield her from future therapy sessions but was doing her best to provide guidance and love. Clarkson’s transparency in these moments of vulnerability highlights the emotional reality behind the glittering facade of celebrity life.

Furthermore, Clarkson's decision to postpone performances for her children’s sake, especially during Blackstock’s private battle with cancer, underscores the personal sacrifices she’s made. Her recent announcement about new dates for her Studio Sessions residency reflects her determination to return to work while remaining a pillar of support for her family. It’s evident that Clarkson's focus remains on her children’s well-being, and her heartfelt apologies to her fans speak to the deep empathy she has for both her family and her audience.

As Clarkson continues to cope with the loss of Blackstock, her strength in prioritizing her children’s needs over her career ambitions sets a poignant example of love and resilience in the face of adversity.
