Megan Moroney Shares Exclusive Update on Relationship with Morgan Wallen Following Breakup

In a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE StyleWatch for their holiday edition, country artist Megan Moroney discussed her current connection with fellow singer Morgan Wallen. Moroney, 28, spoke candidly about Wallen, 32, and praised his latest album I'm the Problem.

"I think Morgan is great and his new album is fantastic," Moroney said. "We are still friends."

The singer, known for her hits like "Beautiful Things" and "6 Months Later," also emphasized that honesty in her songwriting has been a key factor in her career. "I never let the idea that people might speculate about who a song is about stop me from expressing how a situation made me feel," she explained.

Fans first connected Moroney to Wallen following the release of her 2022 hit Tennessee Orange, after the two exchanged comments on Instagram. Wallen later released a song titled Tennessee Fan in 2023. In a 2022 SiriusXM The Highway interview, Moroney confirmed that the Vols shirt featured in her Tennessee Orange promotional photos belonged to Wallen. Reflecting on the moment, she told PEOPLE in June 2023, "I was honestly shocked when I admitted it was his shirt. But since he had already confirmed it, I just went along with it."

Although rumors made her uncomfortable, Moroney appreciated that fans cared about her music. "I'm not the type to discuss these things publicly. All my songs are about people. 'Tennessee Orange' is a lovely song, but revealing who it's about would only lead to more questions about other songs, like 'Sleep on My Side,' and I can't share that," she said.

During a 2024 interview on Call Her Daddy, Moroney mentioned a romantic encounter with Wallen, clarifying that they never dated exclusively. "I've avoided this topic in every interview, but time has passed and everything is fine now," she shared. When asked if Tennessee Orange was about Wallen, she declined to reveal the subject, stating, "I will never say who my songs are about."
