Megan Thee Stallion Emerges Victorious in Defamation Lawsuit Against Blogger

On Monday, a jury delivered a decisive ruling in favor of Megan Thee Stallion in her defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz, who the rapper alleged collaborated with Tory Lanez to spread damaging rumors and circulate a deepfake pornographic video featuring her without permission. After two days of deliberations in a Miami federal court, jurors determined that Gramz was responsible for defaming Megan, intentionally causing emotional distress, and amplifying the reach of the manipulated video.

The jury awarded Megan, born Megan Pete, a total of $75,000 in damages. Under Florida law, Gramz is also responsible for Megans legal fees, expected to exceed $1 million. The jury specifically assigned $15,000 for defamation, $8,000 for emotional distress, and $50,000 for promoting the deepfake video, along with $1,000 in punitive damages for defamation and $1,000 for emotional distress.

The court noted that while Gramz could be considered a media defendant, she was found not neutral. If the judge confirms her status as a media defendant, the defamation count may be dismissed.

Megan filed the lawsuit in October 2024, claiming that Gramz, whose real name is Milagro Cooper, acted as a long-term supporter of Lanez, who was convicted of shooting Megan in July 2020. The lawsuit accused Cooper of spreading false claims about Megan being an alcoholic and mentally unstable, as well as promoting the deepfake video to her large social media following.

During the trial, Megan testified that the online harassment caused severe emotional distress and humiliation, pushing her to moments of despair. She described the situation as exacerbated by the actions of Cooper and Lanez, alleging that they spread lies as retaliation for her testimony against Lanez in his criminal case.

Cooper, who resides in Megans hometown of Houston, defended her commentary on Lanezs criminal trial as protected under the First Amendment. She admitted receiving money from Lanezs father for personal and promotional reasons but denied that her content was influenced by Lanez. Attempts to reach Coopers legal team were unsuccessful.

The trial also revisited the 2020 shooting incident. Evidence included medical testimony about bullet fragments removed from Megans feet, witness messages, and recorded communications from Lanez expressing regret. Megan recounted feeling invisible and disregarded after the shooting, describing the deep emotional impact of the online harassment amplified by Gramz.

Throughout the trial, testimony highlighted Coopers active promotion of the deepfake video, including urging followers to view it on social media. Megan stated that this amplification contributed significantly to her emotional suffering.

In prior legal actions, Megan obtained a restraining order against Lanez, requiring him to stay 100 yards away and refrain from harassment until 2030. The civil trial reinforced the ongoing impact of Lanezs actions and those of his associates on Megans mental health and personal safety.

The jurys verdict underscores the accountability of online content creators and influencers in cases of coordinated harassment and defamation, especially when such actions exacerbate existing trauma. Megans legal team continues to pursue the recovery of legal fees as part of the ruling.
