Prince Royce has reached a new milestone with his rendition of the Backstreet Boys' iconic track, climbing from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboards overall Latin Airplay chart for the week of Dec. 6. At the same time, the song continues its stronghold on the Tropical Airplay chart, marking its fifth consecutive week at the top.
"Achieving No. 1 on both the Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts with I Want It That Way is an extraordinary moment for me," Royce shared. "Its particularly meaningful as it becomes my 19th No. 1 on Latin Airplay. This song bridges cultures and generations, and Im thankful to the fans and radio stations who support me and my music."
The track earned 10 million audience impressions in the United States during the tracking week ending Nov. 27, according to Luminate. This 23% increase from the previous week pushed Karol G and Feids Verano Rosa down from No. 1 to No. 9, following a 35% drop to 5.3 million impressions.
Prince Royces cover of I Want It That Way debuted on the Tropical Airplay chart in August and now celebrates five weeks at the summit. This achievement solidifies Royce as the tropical artist with the second-most No. 1s in the 30-year history of Latin Airplay, trailing only Romeo Santos, who has 22 chart-toppers.
The song builds on the momentum of Royces album Eterno, which previously featured a reimagined version of the Bee Gees How Deep Is Your Love that reached No. 1 on Latin Airplay for one week in June. I Want It That Way also reaches a peak of No. 23 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, which accounts for radio airplay, streaming, and digital sales.
Regional Mexican Airplay Update: El Fantasma Reigns
On the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, El Fantasma claims the top spot with his new single La Lotera, jumping from No. 3 to No. 1. The song, released via Afinarte Music in July, saw a 43% increase in audience impressions, reaching 8.1 million. This marks El Fantasmas ninth career chart-topper and his second of 2025, following Ya Me Vale Madre. Additionally, La Lotera moves up on the Latin Airplay chart from No. 9 to No. 3.
All Billboard charts dated Dec. 6 will update on Dec. 2 at Billboard.com.
