Unknown individuals sent me 140 pictures of my friend's dog

A Nottingham resident described it as "absolutely brilliant" to receive more than 100 selfies from strangers after putting up posters of his roommates dog.

Michiel Holemans, who lives in Nottingham, distributed around 20 A4 flyers throughout the city, inviting people to take a photo with a printed image of "Aggie" and send it to him. He called it a "silly and fun idea," inspired by a similar project in New York, which helped him feel connected to people he might never meet.

"I think that sense of community, especially in a city that can feel large and intimidating, is something Im really aiming for," he added.

In the first week after putting up the posters, Mr. Holemans received nearly 140 emails with photos, far surpassing his expectations. "It was absolutely brilliant because instead of scrolling through social media, I was checking my emails every five seconds," he said. "Seeing a picture of someone just made me giggle."

The posters were affixed using a flour-and-water mixture instead of glue, ensuring no damage or contamination. They were mainly placed in student-heavy areas, as Mr. Holemans believed this group would be most likely to participate in something playful.

Aggie, the star of the posters, is a rescue dog of unknown breed, adopted while the owners were on holiday in Greece. Her owner, Elena Meadows, admitted she was unsure what Mr. Holemans would do with the photo when he asked for it. "He didnt explain much, just asked if anyone had a silly picture of their dog, and I was the first to reply," she said. "Its amazing, and we had no idea shed become famous in a city she isnt even from. She has no clue whats happening. Shes blissfully unaware at home."

Currently, Aggie is in Leicester, staying with Ms. Meadows parents.

Inspired by the success of the poster project, Mr. Holemans plans to explore further initiatives aimed at brightening strangers days. "One person emailed me saying they had a really tough day and were anxious, but after seeing my poster and taking a selfie, they felt better," he said.
