Some Detroit Lions supporters are pointing fingers at President Trump for the teams recent setbacks. After losing two of their last three games, a number of fans have linked the decline to the former president.

The Lions faced a tough defeat against Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love on Thanksgiving. Love completed 18 of 30 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns, sealing the victory with a fourth-down completion to Dontayvion Wicks. This came after Detroits 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and a 34-27 overtime win against the New York Giants.

While there are several factors behind Detroits struggles, some fans believe the root cause is more unusual: a connection to President Trump.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown became part of the discussion after performing the "Trump Dance" during a touchdown celebration against the Washington Commanders on November 9. He later apologized for offending anyone. During the recent game against Green Bay, St. Brown suffered a minor ankle sprain, which fans have interpreted as karma for the previous celebration.

"Amon-Ra St. Brown cursed the Lions when he did the Trump celly vs. the Commanders," a fan wrote on X. "Love to see it."

"Season was over when the Tigers did it. Now we are seeing it with the Lions," another fan commented.

"The Trump dance curse is real. Tigers hit the Trump dance to honor politician and they lost 11 straight. Amon-Ra St. Brown did it, now the Lions are finished and he got injured. Dont do it," added a third fan.

"Curses are real and I wont be convinced otherwise," one more fan remarked.

Fortunately for Detroit, St. Brown is not expected to be placed on injured reserve and is considered week-to-week, according to NFL Networks Tom Pelissero. However, he is unlikely to play in the upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Currently, the Lions need to secure a win over the Cowboys and hope for a San Francisco 49ers loss to improve their playoff chances. At present, Detroit holds a 4-4 record within the conference.

Analysis: Detroit Lions’ Struggles and the Trump Dance Curse Debate

In the wake of the Detroit Lions' recent setbacks, some fans have turned to an unlikely source for explanation: a connection to former President Donald Trump. Despite the team's struggles on the field, including two losses in their last three games, many have pointed to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown’s touchdown celebration, where he performed the “Trump Dance” against the Washington Commanders on November 9. This has led to the theory that the dance somehow "cursed" the Lions, causing their current run of bad form.

The Lions’ latest loss to the Green Bay Packers, compounded by a minor injury to St. Brown during the game, has fueled these claims. Fans on social media have taken to linking his celebratory gesture to bad luck, with one stating, “The Trump dance curse is real.” These sentiments mirror past instances, such as the Detroit Tigers' losing streak following a similar show of political support. The apparent connection between the dance and the team’s poor performance is being considered by some as more than a coincidence.

However, the reality is likely far more complex. The Lions' struggles, including their tough defeat to Green Bay and a narrow win against the New York Giants, can be attributed to a combination of factors, including game strategy, injuries, and tough competition. While the curse theory may provide some entertainment for fans, it overlooks the many elements that shape a team’s performance over the course of a season.

Looking ahead, the Lions’ playoff hopes rest on securing a win against the Dallas Cowboys and hoping for a San Francisco 49ers loss. Despite the turmoil, the team is still within reach of a postseason spot, and it remains to be seen whether they can turn things around or if superstition will continue to play a role in fan discussions.
