Expert predicts Meghan Markle is aware her royal title could be taken away

With Prince William next in line to the British throne, reports suggest that Meghan Markle is well aware that her brother-in-laws future reign could jeopardize her royal title. The Duchess of Sussex recently appeared on the cover of Harpers Bazaar, where her title was prominently displayed a detail that quickly sparked online discussion.

Royal commentator Tom Sykes noted that Markles consistent use of her duchess title may signal her desire to maximize it while she still can, should the Prince of Wales choose to revoke it once he becomes king.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and now reside in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Since leaving their official roles, the couple has focused on developing projects separate from the royal institution.

In her recent Harpers Bazaar feature, journalist Kaitlyn Greenidge described being introduced to Markle by a staff member using her full royal title. She recalled hearing, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, despite the meeting being a casual, private interaction.

Sykes highlighted this detail in his analysis, arguing that Markles insistence on the title even in informal settings reflects her awareness that it may eventually be withdrawn. He suggested that she is intent on reinforcing her connection to the royal family before any potential changes are made once William ascends the throne.

The discussion comes shortly after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his Duke of York title by King Charles, reinforcing the idea that the royal family is prepared to remove titles when deemed necessary a possibility not overlooked by Harry and Meghan.
