MLSD stated, "Reactivating the building through its permanent electrical system shows that the corrective steps related to the grounding loop have advanced enough to restore full electrical functionality."

Shannon confirmed that construction and repair work remain on schedule, with expectations that Groff Elementary will be ready for use at the start of the 2026-27 school year. Additional improvements inside the building are also underway. Recently, crews removed the existing stair finishes and began preparing for repairs and refinishing.
