Hageman announces candidacy for Wyoming Senate seat left open by Lummis

On Tuesday, Representative Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) officially declared her candidacy for the Wyoming Senate seat that will be left vacant following Senator Cynthia Lummis' retirement. Lummis, a Republican, had previously confirmed last week that she would retire at the end of her current term. In her announcement, Hageman, 63, shared her experiences from both her time in the House of Representatives and her private law practice, highlighting her dedication to defending Constitutional rights and protecting the sovereignty of the United States.

"In the House, as I did in my private law practice, I have fought every day for the Constitutional rights of every individual citizen and to protect the sovereignty of this nation," Hageman stated. "As I announce my candidacy to continue to represent Wyoming, now as a United States Senator, I humbly ask the voters for their support." Hageman's words reflected her deep commitment to the principles she has fought for throughout her career, vowing to continue these efforts at the national level as a U.S. Senator.

In her statement, Hageman also took a moment to recognize Senator Lummis for her decades of service, noting the significant impact Lummis has had both in Wyoming and across the nation. Hageman described Lummis as a figure of strong, conservative leadership who has dedicated over forty years to public service, praising her lasting influence on the state's political landscape. "Senator Lummis leaves a legacy of over four decades of principled, conservative leadership, and Wyoming and America are better for it," Hageman remarked, acknowledging Lummis' tireless work for the people of Wyoming and her national contributions.

Hageman's campaign announcement marks the beginning of her formal push to represent Wyoming in the Senate. As a long-time figure in Wyoming politics, Hageman is positioning herself as a strong advocate for conservative values and individual liberties, focusing on continuing the work done by Senator Lummis while also bringing her own experiences and perspective to the Senate. Her candidacy will likely draw significant attention, as both state and national political observers look to see how her run for the Senate unfolds in the coming months.
