'I Took Him Apart!' Scott Jennings Celebrates After Michael Douglas Criticized Him for Humiliating Son on CNN Panel

Conservative commentator Scott Jennings playfully suggested a way to reconcile with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones after a heated TV debate in which her son, Dylan Douglas, faced a tough political challenge. Dylan, 25, the son of Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, struggled to defend his Democratic viewpoints during the CNN discussion, leaving the celebrity parents reportedly "angry" at the outcome.

Jennings later reflected on the uneven exchange during a podcast with Megan McCain, who jokingly referred to herself as the queen of nepo babies, referencing her father, the late Senator John McCain. McCain mentioned that Dylan should not have been put on a program with you; its like bringing a knife to a gunfight, and admitted the debate left her feeling uneasy.

Recalling her own experience as a young political commentator, McCain said, I went on TV too early as a nepo baby. Paul Begala completely dismantled me on Bill Maher, similar to what happened with Dylan. But my parents never lost their composurethey just told me to move on.

Jennings responded with humor, offering, I would be happy to apologize to Catherine Zeta-Jones over a seafood dinner if she wishes. Dylan, off-camera, was actually very polite and seemed honored to participate. He emphasized that the discussion was a standard exchange of political ideas, with Dylan presenting Democratic arguments and Jennings challenging them, a typical scenario on CNN.

Jennings also suggested that the frustration from Dylans parents may stem from a sheltered environment. Some of these individuals live in a tight bubble, rarely interacting with conservatives or opposing viewpoints. Then, when they face someone with different beliefs on TV, it can be shocking, he explained.

He concluded on a positive note, expressing hope for Dylans future appearances: I hope Dylan returns. With experience, he will become much stronger in these debates.
