Jimmy Fallon quips that Melania Trump is so upset by White House construction that she lives '200 miles away'

Jimmy Fallon took aim at President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump during the opening monologue of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, December 3. The late-night host addressed the ongoing White House construction for the new State Ballroom.

President Trump has been busy with his new ballroom project, and Melania is reportedly upset about the construction noise, Fallon remarked. It must be quite loud because she actually lives 200 miles away.

The audience laughed as Fallon continued with another jab: Melania is so frustrated with the noise that she hasnt spoken to Trump in nine years. He added that the president, 79, hardly notices the noise since he spends half his day in a tanning bed and the other half in an MRI.

Fallon also referenced an incident during a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, joking, The construction noise is intense, but apparently its the only thing keeping Trump awake.

Meanwhile, as the White House moves forward with the ballroom project, CNN reported on Thursday, December 4, that a new architect has been brought on board. McCrery Architects and its CEO will no longer lead the project after disagreements with the president regarding the ballrooms design and size.

White House officials stated that CEO James McCrery will continue as a consultant, while Shalom Baranes Associates takes over the architectural work. As we move into the next phase of the White House Ballroom, we are thrilled to have Shalom Baranes join the team to help realize the presidents vision, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told CNN. Shaloms extensive experience shaping the architecture of the nations capital will be invaluable for completing this project.
