Josh Brolin has clarified that his role in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery was not influenced by Donald Trump, despite recalling the former president as a friend and a marketing genius. In a recent interview with The Independent, the Oscar-nominated actor explained that his depiction of Monsignor Wicks was entirely separate from any political figure.

I could fabricate a connection and claim it reflects a certain greed, but thats not the case, Brolin commented. He added that Wicks accumulation of power leads to limitless behavior, independent of any real-life inspiration.

The conversation led Brolin to reflect on his previous friendship with Trump and address rumors about a potential third presidential run, which he dismissed. Im not intimidated by Trump. Even if he claims hell stay indefinitely, it wont happen. If it does, Ill handle that moment, he said. Knowing him before his presidency, I saw a very different person.

Brolin met Trump while working on Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, in which Trump was originally slated for a cameo. Speaking on Trumps business acumen, Brolin praised his marketing skills, noting that he excels at identifying public weaknesses and capitalizing on them. Thats why many people feel represented by him, the actor explained. Its less about Trump himself and more about the populations desire for validation.

Josh Brolin's Role in "Wake Up Dead Man" Unrelated to Donald Trump

Josh Brolin has recently addressed speculations surrounding his portrayal of Monsignor Wicks in the upcoming film "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," clarifying that the character was not inspired by Donald Trump. Despite acknowledging a past friendship with the former president, Brolin emphasized that his role was independent of any political influence.

In an interview with The Independent, Brolin stated that he could have fabricated a connection to Trump, but he did not want to make such an association. "I could fabricate a connection and claim it reflects a certain greed, but that’s not the case," he remarked, adding that Wicks' accumulation of power was purely fictional and not based on any real-life figure.

Brolin also took the opportunity to dismiss rumors about Trump's potential third presidential run, expressing confidence that even if Trump were to claim indefinite power, it would not happen. "I’m not intimidated by Trump. Even if he claims he’ll stay indefinitely, it won’t happen. If it does, I’ll handle that moment," Brolin said.

Reflecting on his personal experience with Trump, Brolin praised the former president's marketing abilities, acknowledging his skill in recognizing and exploiting public weaknesses. "That’s why many people feel represented by him," Brolin explained. He emphasized that the support for Trump was more about the population’s need for validation than about Trump himself.
